Group Farm Tours

Gleneden Farm offers a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes and see a how a real working organic farm is run. Choose between a Guided Farm Tour (walking) or a Hayride Tour (scroll down for more details). On the tour you will be able to meet the farm animals (pigs, chickens, geese, cows, sheep) out grazing in the paddocks, see the beautiful mountain countryside and learn how amazingly delicious healthy food can be produced in an ethical and environmentally sensitive way. Along the way we can milk the cows with Rohan, collect the eggs, feed the pigs and chickens, look for fish in the creek, and explore Fiona’s organic vegetable garden. And the best bit? At the end of the tour you are welcome to taste some of our organic farm produce. We are more than happy to create a bespoke tour to suit your group or schools interests and needs.

Disabled toilets are available onsite and there is plenty of picnic spots along the creek or BYO lunch to eat in our Farm Shed.

Morning/ afternoon tea of damper/ scones and billy tea is available upon request ($10pp). Please remember, Gleneden is a real working farm with many risks and hazards.  All guests need to bring a hat, sunscreen, water, sturdy shoes and long pants and you will need a reasonable level of fitness and agility for all tours.

Gleneden Farm is open daily seven days a week for Group Farm Tours from 9am-5pm (except long-weekends – We’re too busy!). Weekday tour bookings are preferable. Bookings are essential.

Guided Farm Tour

This guided tour is ideal for large groups and adventurous inquisitive minds. Starting at the farmhouse we go on a gentle stroll down to the farmyard for milking, then across the creek and over into the paddocks to say g’day to the farm animals. You can help collect eggs, feed the pigs, pat the horses and herd the sheep. There is also plenty of time to ask us lots or curly questions about farming and how we produce our food. The tour finishes at the Farm Shop with some samples of our produce for you to enjoy.

The walk covers approximately 2km of farm tracks so a reasonable level of fitness and agility is required. Gum boots recommended if wet (we have a small selection at the farmhouse you can borrow – bring socks). Duration 1.5hrs.

Cost: $15 per adult & $10 per school age child/ youth (min booking $150). Covered shoes, a hat and water-bottle are essential.

Hay Ride Tour

All aboard for a hay ride behind the tractor around the farm with Farmer Rohan as he does his chores!

The hay trailer hitched to the tractor can seat up to 15 people. Ideal for smaller groups with little or easily tired legs. Learn about regenerative farming as you roll along past the animals, through the woodland and up to the lookout. There are lots of stops on the way so you can feed and pat the animals.

Cost: $25 per adult & $15 per school age child/ youth (min booking $250). Covered shoes, hat and water-bottle are recommended.

What some of our customers say...

Grace P.

It’s a special spot and Fiona and Rohan are great hosts. Everything is clean and tidy with lots of thought and care. We enjoyed the picturesque farm, taking a walk on the property and meeting the heritage breed farm animals (Saddleback Pigs!) and the chance to buy fresh produce from the small store.

Penny & Co

We had no experience with farming, so we learnt so much about what is involved. We also loved hearing about the way in which you farm and how much work you put into it. Your passion is infectious. The Damper making was great and you were a great teacher. The food was very flavoursome and topped off with some billy tea. We were also glad we got the chance to buy some of your products. We didn’t stop talking about it all the way home.

Corrine H.

Fiona was very welcoming, showing us the animals and explaining how their farm runs. We also purchased some meat from the farm shop which I would highly recommend.

Paul M.

The kids loved visiting the farm animals, my kids especially loved the chickens. There was lots of bird life to observe and a nice walking circuit around the farm. Good footwear is a must when visiting, there was a bit of stinging nettle growing around. Fiona was a wealth of information showing us plant remedies for the stings. Our kids are now on their way to becoming botanists, although everything is now dock, even dandelion leaves.

Rina F.

The kids loved watching the antics of the piglets. Our dog also enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. Fiona and Rohan are friendly, a wealth of knowledge and happy to share all they do on the farm. We are looking forward to trying our pork we’ve purchased from them and can’t wait to return.
